since the deadline has passed...figured I would toss this out and see how close I am...
#1 Steve Parsons
Reds traded a ton to get the #1 franchise 1b. Coming straight outta high school, Parsons set 21 different city, state and national records while playing for The La Porte Slicers. Already the proud holder for 3rd most wins in high school baseball,(true) Parsons led the Slicers to 4 state titles and back to back national titles, and holds the honor of being national high school player of the year twice, the only player ever to do so.
vitals
213 hits, 51 doubles, 1 triple, 54 home runs, 157 walks and 65K's
#2 Sam Fulmer
The Angels acquired this pick in the Jason Schmidt deal, and the front office should be very happy the pulled the trigger. As a Senior for Rice last season, Fulmer was 17-4 with 170k's to an amazing 14 walks on the season.
vitals
135 hits, 23 doubles, 2 triples, 13 home runs, 25 walks and 167K's
#3 Tom Doyle
The Astros mid-season fire sale saw their pick plummet, and as a result they will pick 3rd, which is the highest in a draft the franchise as ever selected. They are set to take the best natural infielder in the draft in Doyle. As a Junior last season for Cal St, Doyle lead the team in every major offensive category, helping earn the team a trip to Omaha.
vital
177 hits, 32 doubles, 1 triple, 43 home runs, 106 walks to 78 K's
#4 Bob O'Neil
The Rangers were tough in their demands to acquire this pick from the Reds if they were to deal the #1, and for a good reason. O'Neil is without a doubt the best 5 tool player in this draft. He is a freakish athlete who can play any position if taught, and be among the best in the league and whatever position he ends up. Prowling Center for the Louisville Cards last season, and was one of the big reasons for their Cinderella run to Omaha last fall.
vitals
185 hits, 31 doubles, 3 triples, 33 home runs, 100 walks to 96 K's
5.28 IF range, 7.14 OF range, .996 glove, 6.23 run and 7.97 arm
#5 Cliff Flynn
At first glance, many would say the pitching heavy Dodgers would jump to grab the other ace in the draft in Tony Stahl. But with the 2nd best power hitter who also hits for good average, for a team that still lacks enough firepower to contend, Flynn makes sense. The Batesville Arkansas High School star set 17 different state records during his 4 yrs, including the record for hrs in a season (20), and career total (67).
vitals
188 hits, 33 doubles, 4 triples, 41 home runs, 81 walks and 57 K's
#6 Tony Stahl
The new Card's ownership has to be overjoyed with the picks in this draft. Getting Stahl at 6 will make them overwhelmed! The Big Lefty from the University of Michigan is projected to be the best power pitcher in the draft. Last season he was the main reason the Wolverines made a trip to Omaha, and even to the title series to lose to Rice. He led the country in K's last season with an amazing 260!
vitals
123 hits, 23 doubles, 3 triple, 15 home runs, 51 walks and 268 K's
#7 Frank Sutherland
The Cards again strike gold in landing Sutherland with the 7 pick. Not only is he the 2nd best pure hitter in the draft, he probably has the 2nd best eye in the draft. Sutherland played his high school ball in Seattle, Washington.
vitals
195 hits, 44 doubles, 1 triple, 24 home runs, 131 walks to 64 K's
#8 Marty Conroy
Houston selects for the 2nd time in the round (the 2nd team to do so with a 3rd to pick again at 9) and with this pick they land a very good pitcher in Marty Conroy. Not known for his power, Conroy relies on pin point control for his success. Conroy played his high school ball in Cleveland Ohio.
vital
146 hits, 19 doubles, 2 triples, 11 home runs, 36 walks and 90 K's
#9 Mickey Sullivan
The Reds traded Banky Edwards for this pick, and by every stretch of the imagination they should land an upgrade over the light hitting center fielder. Sullivan is a switch hitting OF with good range and a slick bat. He played his high school ball in Oak Harbor Washington, setting the state record for doubles and rbi's in a career and season.
vitals
186 hits, 35 doubles, 2 triples, 37 home runs, 74 walks to 89 K's
# 10 Greg Chamberlain
The 2nd best 5 tool guy in the draft, Chamberlain doesn't do anything amazing but is very solid everywhere on the board. As a Junior for the Arizona Wildcats, he helped lead his team to Omaha, as well as player of the year honors in the Pac 10.
vitals
176 hits, 30 doubles, 1 triple, 37 home runs, 91 walks and 67 K's
5.27 IF range, 6.91 OF range, .976 glove, 5.53 speed and 6.54 arm
