wow 19 MIL per year with a 9 MIL SB= almost 21 MIL per year
13 MIL in incentives
if he reaches his incentives every year the contract is basically 5 years 170 MIL then he may be worth the 19 MIL per year deal, if he doesn't reach the incentives he isn't worth the 19 MIL let alone the 34 MIL per year it equals out to be
The rest of the deals look reasonable though

as LAD sponser im rejecting this contract offer...this has never been done but the requirements for a sponser is to insure the GM is not allowed to hurt the franchise while learning...this is a clear case where LAD had NO clue what he was doing....

That offer is something that is bad for the league. That is the way import signings are going. We have to look at what we can do to stop offers like this. I don't think we can stop it because it already happened, but in the future. If he can afford the deal this yr, it is a valid signing.

yeah tech. the deal isn't horrible if he moves Braun to C he is a C with a 8 arm and 47 HR's with speed to steal 40-50 bases, thats insane and a franchise player not worth the deal, but maybe worth it without the incentives. LAD was told numerous times how bad the offer was when he made it and he still wanted it. The deal is only 5 years long and eventually he may be able to move him if he agrees to pay all incentives. Since I am in his division what I say doesn't matter but the teams in the West have to do something crazy to compete with me and this is a GM trying to compete, can't fault him for that.

LAD is going to have the money to pay Braun...the incentives, maybe not. Let him compete the way he wants to and he can sell picks/players if he needs to. He has some 40 mil in cap room now and the deal is still only 5 years.

Yeah, Jeff you are right...some of us have done some crazy things to try to keep up with the rockies...just glad at least for a few seasons i have a team that can at the very least compete with you....nice to see some talent goto LA finally, maybe he can snipe a couple of wins from you and i can win the division this year...lol

LA gets a top notch player, good for LA they needed one. It looks like most of his team is young anyways so I don't think the cash is going to hurt him to much right away. He has a core of players. Imports are here for situations just like this. A bad team with cash that wants to take a step in the right direction. Braun would have got a 18+ per yr in an open bid forum as well, but the incentives are way too high. But some times you have to make a splash and LA made a big one!!!
I think Boston paid too much for Pedroia, but he is in rebuild and the dude is a RL player.
Suprised to see Marmol got that much cash too. But another situation in which a team that needs a player gets one. This should help the Twinkies.
Hill and the Giants a good fit. This year none of the top teams got an import. That surprises mee some. The past has dictated some import action at the top. Take away the Balt year.
As a sponsor I would reject the deal for LA but I am not his sponsor and don't know if that would even matter. Since I have never scene that before in a signing.

Yea surprised me a little no top teams bid, but if you break it down it makes sense ANA was out of it cause he handles it, TOR I expect that he bid on Pedroia but barely got beat out SEA I expect bid on Pedroia and Braun but also got outbid NYM's only have 4 MIL to spend MIL only has 13 and thats without Beltran, ARI got K-Rod which took there cash away, COL has Gwynn and Reyes at SS/2B and Wright at 3rd with no use for the average pitchers PHI already has Gordon at 3B so no Braun, I expected you to bid on Pedroia but again the average pitchers really no use here Basically it comes down to AL contenders prob. bid on Braun but got outbid by LAD and the other contenders either didn't have the money or no use for these imports.

Braun's a better fit in the AL but in the import world you have to pay bigtime cash to get what you want. I see no reason for rejecting the signing Sean get off your power trip.

Pedroia's deal is more than fine, he just barely beat out TOR's offer. Considering he is a prototypical 2B and #2 hitter. Low K's more BB's than K's, good speed, good contact, decent HR power, high OBP, not to mention good defense. 12 MIL is a good offer and its only a 3 year deal so if he doesn't pan out its the perfect contract.
LAD obviously WAY overpaid for Braun, but he got a guy capable of stealing 50 bases and hitting 50 HR's, not a guy most NL guys would go after but he is still better than any player LAD ML's have seen in way to long. considering his team is full of cheap guys he will still have 40 MIL or so in cap space next year even if Braun reaches all his incentives.

BOS is a RL Boston fan...forgive him for bidding high on a guy who is probably one of his favorite players (like I tried doing for Zimmerman).

thank you for taking my side Jeff and Hoagie. Hoagie is right, he is one of my favorite players and COL is exactly right on what i was thinking...hes basically a perfect #2 in the lineup and he is 24 and will still be there for when i bring up the rest of my players. Also, it was only a 3 year contract and in those 3 years i wont be competing so why does it matter if he isnt worth what he's paid? after the 3rd year ill resign him for the appropriate amount. Now, when i resign him if i overpay, then that can be legitimately ridiculed

Braun had 18 win shares last year IRL with a fld% under like .900. He's still a very valuable player.
