The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Indians GM is actively trying to trade 1B Carlos Delgado. A source close to the organization confirmed that the Indians are willing to eat some of the sluggers salary if the deal is right. Well he didnt say what they would ask for in return, it is believed they would ask for young starting pitcher and prospects. It is believed that the Indians may try to deal Bartolo Colon and/or Jason Johnson before the season begins. The Indians have decided that they would like to get younger so that they can begin to build for their future. When asked to comment on the situation Mark Shapiro replied "We do not have any deals in place for anyone currently on the roster. We will continue to explore any and all options that we feel will improve this team not only for this season, but for seasons to come. I will not comment on any current discussions we are having out of respect to any players and teams involved." Stay tuned to the Cleveland Plain Dealer about any more information that may come out.

Reports of the Chicago Tribune are that Cubs' GM Jim Hendry is actively pursuing Delgado. "Pitching can't do it all for you. We need a big bat." Rumors are that the Cubs would have to give up some pitching either at the ML level or a piece of their minor league prospect core of Mahoney, Brownlie, Sisco and Guzman to make the deal go through but Hendry would not comment on any specifics, citing only that Hendry was exploring options.
