LEAGUE VOTE:
Before starting this league, I checked out alot of other leagues and their rules. During that, I saw that most of those leagues allow the trading of draft picks. I was originally against it, but I am more open to it now.
Example- ANA trades their 2nd round pick to CHC.
Since the game does not recognize the trading of draft picks, this is what would happen. After the draft (happens at the end of each season), ANA would have their Single A roster filled by drafted players. Since they traded their second round pick, they would protect 1 player from being taken by CHC. CHC then gets their choice of players from the remaining 24. If ANA traded their 1st round pick, they do not protect anyone. If it was their 3rd, they may protect 2 players.
If this is to go through, teams may ONLY trade the picks from the upcoming draft. No trading picks 2 years down the road. Also, teams would only be allowed to trade their top 3 picks. After that the players probably won't be good enough to be worth all that much.
So, Should teams be allowed to trade their top 3 picks of the draft? Vote YES or NO. You may give reasons if you would like (maybe it'll sway someone else's decision), but it is not required.

I agree, lets be able to deal. It is a nice element to add for rebuilding teams. This is not even really dealing picks, this is similar to a MLB team trading for a PTBNL

I think picks should be tradeable too. Its another way to help the rebuilding teams.

Again I strongly urge no--draft picks have never been trade able, you can rebuild other ways--trade for the young players.

But this isnt real life, its just an internet sim league. Its not something that will hurt the integrity of the league or anything like that. It just adds one more way to make trades, which i think is a good thing.

I say trade draft picks. If you don't want to mess with it, don't involve yourself in any trade that has them in the mix. I say we do allow them because unlike nba or maybe nfl, rookie draftees do not immediately impact an organization. Someone who trades for more picks risks dropping established minor leaguers for hit-or-miss rookies. I don't think there is an advantage to having more picks and I don't think it affects the league significantly.

I agree with that O's.
I know it isn't realistic, since there's no trading picks in ML, but it would add another aspect to the sim, and it doesn't guarantee you get a great prospect anyway. I think we should debat about it for a while, and maybe some people would change their minds from each side. I'm open minded...

Right now we have it 7 no's, and 4 yes'. I would like ALL gm's to respond to polls. If you read this and have not yet responded, please let us know your opinion. If you'd like to debate it start a thread in the General forum and do it there. Thanks.

I vote yes. In keeper fantasy leagues, we trade draft picks. It becomes a lucrative trading tool.

I say trade picks is a good idea.
Every league has it, and its a great trade tool.
So instead of one crappy team getting one pick every year they are able to get 3 or 4 picks if they run their team the right way.
