This thread is a vote to elect the AL Agents for the 2008-2010 seasons.
I will post the Agent's responses to the questionnaire sent out below, and all following posts are to be votes only. Any posts involving anything other than a vote will be deleted.
Now, to the survey responses-
Hoagie (NYM)
How has your experience in the league prepared you for this position?
I've been in the league since 8/04, so it's been almost 2 years. Because I've been there for such a long time, I know something about almost every player. I'm 3rd in all-time posts (1-up on CIN ) so that shows how active I am. I check the site and my emails and im's at least 3-4 times a day.
Why would you be a good candidate for this position? Are you familiar with the commitment required?
I am always on the computer...I basically have no life. I'm a nice guy, very approachable and observant. I know about the commitment required and have no problem with it.
How familiar are you with the league rules?
I know them well...I've not had problems remembering them in the past.
What is your goal in becoming a league officer?
Being fair is the top priority. I think offseason FA inflates the prices every year, so my goal is to get PFA resignings to a similar market value as they would get regularly in the offseason. I also think too often good players accept MLC's during the season just because they are out of work...I would have them hold out until they got an offer they deserved.
How often will you be online and available to other league members?
I'm basically always online. Even when I'm on vacation and stuff, I find my way to a computer. I'll be out of town next monday thru saturday with no computer access, and for a week in August with computer access...next week is pretty much the only time I'll ever be unavailable and without computer access.
What aspects of this position would you expect to enjoy the most?
The cash bonus lol. It will give me something to do. I volunteer and crap so it makes me feel all fuzzy and shit when I help other people out fo' free.
What difficulties do you think you could face in this position and how are you prepared to handle them?
Well I shouldn't have too many difficulties, as the pain-in-the-ass GM's are mostly in the NL. I have a pretty good relationship (or at least not a bad relationship) with all the GM's in the AL, so I don't think problems will come about as much as you'd think. But being an agent comes before being a friend, so thats how I'd handle it.
What do you like about the league?
It's a fun thing. I get along with pretty much everyone, whether we have our differences or not. As gay as this sounds, we're kinda like a little family. I was talking to TEX last night and I could tell him personality traits of almost every GM and told him who was friends IRL, who lived where, etc.
What don't you like about the league?
Some owners raise a shit about nothing. Sometimes things don't get done as promptly as they should (not just sims and agent voting...the agents are sometimes to blame with fa signings).
What are your hopes for the UCSL in the future?
For it to stay alive and still be fun. And for it to not be a waste of 2 years of my life.
What more would you like to say in support of yourself or any of the other candidates?
I traded you Peavy . But I think I'm the most approachable GM and not afraid of spending time to make things easier for others. I plan on doing a writeup for FA's on what they want in a contract and base it off of real life (esp. contract length going into a player's prime years).
Jeff (COL)
How has your experience in the league prepared you for this position?
I have been an agent before which means I have more experience in that regard than the other canidates, I am also the most active and easily reachable GM in the league, which helps ensure that all offers will be answered in plenty of time to get all 3 offers in.
Why would you be a good candidate for this position? Are you familiar with the commitment required?

To help ensure a league that is fair and fun to be in.
How often will you be online and available to other league GMs? more than any other canidate lol, practically live on my laptop.
What aspects of this position would you expect to enjoy the most?
making the league enjoyable to everybody
What difficulties do you think you could face in this position and how are you prepared to handle them?
GM's being upset their player didn't sign and wanting a committee(only happened once during my tenure, and all agents agreed that I was correct in how I handled it, and so did most teams, just not the ones picked for the committee)
What do you like about the league?
It is fun and enjoyable, and gives a real aspect of how being a GM in baseball really is
What don't you like about the league?
Down time, missed sims, unorganized
What are your hopes for the UCSL in the future?
To have very little down time, no missed sims and to get organized......
What more would you like to say in support of yourself or any of the other candidates?
I tried to be as fair as possible and as available as I could while serving my last term, and I will do the same during this one. As an agent you need to be available almost 24/7 because all GM's live in different time zones and some in different countries, and you need to be available to discuss things when they are. The most active GM's should be considered most for the job.
Sean (CIN)
