Compensation picks will no longer go to the 5 most improved teams
Over the course of the season points will be accumulated by owners for the following activities:
2 point per roster
6 points for Draft list
6 points for Awards Ballot
6 points for HOF ballot
6 points for All-Star Ballot
6 points for Cut lists
1 point for every $4mil left in the budget at the end of the season
1-5 point based on merit of each article submitted (about the magazine)
(we could give points for agents, treasurer, etc.)
At the end of the World Series the league will go to an AIM chat room and conduct a lottery for the 5 compensation picks in the next draft
*no team can win more than 1 compensation pick each season
I have had owners tell me things like "I want to lose this year so I can get a high draft pick and then win a lot next year to get the compensation pick". It doesn't happen often (most people are smart enough not to TELL me they are tanking) but I swear it has happened.
The lottery would be cool, at least as cool as the draft itself, as we find out who gets the compensation picks
This also rewards participation, which is always a good thing

OnlineHost (2:02:08 AM): HHSLCubsGM rolled 1 615-sided die: 277 (skip HOU)
OnlineHost (2:02:09 AM): HHSLCubsGM rolled 1 615-sided die: 45 (ARI)
OnlineHost (2:02:10 AM): HHSLCubsGM rolled 1 615-sided die: 398 (NYY)
OnlineHost (2:04:27 AM): HHSLCubsGM rolled 1 615-sided die: 578 (TB)
This makes sense since KC, TB and HOU all wrote articles but at the same
time the other teams (ARI/NYY) have a shot and the more you do the more your chances increase. It would be totally performed in the chat room using the AIM RNG and could be a lot of fun and value.
This beats just giving teams things for getting better as they should be trying to do on their own anyway.
