SF is the team in between the two extremes of all ML or all Minor Leagues. With a few past stars (Ichiro, Derek Jeter, Travis Hafner) and a few budding ones in ML as well as some decent prospects at all levels, they are probably the closest to competition.
SD is a veteran team bulit around superstars of the past (Mike Mussina, Nomar Garciaparra, Mike Hampton, Chipper Jones, etc.) No real hitting in the minor leagues, but some decent arms down there. SD would be a team ideal for an experienced owner looking for a big challenge. A few trades and key free agents are needed to keep this team afloat. Must be patient, because it takes a while to rebuild a team with such little talent. If you're new to sim leagues, this team is probably not for you...but if you're dedicated, you can make it happen.
The Orioles have 27 year old first baseman Steve Bailey, with 102 HR's over the past 2 seasons, the power hitting catcher Orlando McCormick, Solid starters in Rommie Lewis and AJ Burnett and some big bats and strong arms in the minors.
Oakland has some great young ML arms in Brian Bruney (2.23 ERA and 31 saves at 26), Shane Bazzell (3.45 ERA and 13 wins at 29) and Mike Connolly (14 wins and 3.56 ERA at 26 as well as legit hitters such as Adam Dunn (41 HR last year) and rising star Mark Teahen. The A's have some solid pitching prospects and decent batters as well. They do play in the same division as the commish, however, and have a long way to go if they want to compete with him.
FLA has a ton of young ML prospects, but went 80-82 even though they scored 719 runs and only gave up 648. Their only problem is playing in a division where 3 other teams won 99 games. They have a lot of talent under 26 and some good prospects as well.
CHW has some top prospects as well as mashers Mike West (157 R!! 142 RBI!! 43 HR!!) and Magglio Ordonez (.704 SLG!! 170 RBI!! 59 HR!!). ML pitching blows though =(
please leave your AIM and email so we can figure things out. thanks!
