The Brewers have sent Bobby Abreu and their 2nd round pick to the Mets in exchange for Wily Mo Pena and 7.5M in cash, this season.
"We are sad to see Bobby go, but we wanted to give our youngster, Bill Thomas, an opportunity, and we needed to free up money to go after our All Star Free Agents AJ, Jimmy, Mike and Hank," Brewers GM Doug Melvin said. "We know given the opportunity in New York Bobby will find happiness."
It is said that Pena will play an important part adding some pop off the bench.

The mysterious Wily Mo Pena is finally out of NY. We couldn't figure out why he was so bad. Anyways, Abreu adds to our oldies-but-goodies outfield (with Edmonds) who we hope to have get back to his normal numbers.
The money wasn't really important for us. The 2nd rounder could be trade bait or used to pick up a pitcher.
Mets accept.
