Kansas City and Houston struck a feel good deal today. The Royals sent Jeff Bagwell to Houston, where he is best known, for two minor leaguers: Ed Keenan and Alan Holland. Bagwell is less than 200 hits away from 3000 and is likely in his final year before retirement. "It will be nice to get it at home in Houston and I thank these two teams for making it possible for me to achieve this milestone with the good fans in Houston." Bagwell was quoted as saying. However, before this trade can be "official," both GMs of Houston and KC are asking for a special ruling from the League Presidents and/or the Commish since Bagwell was a resigned Free Agent near the end of this past season. Under normal rules a (re)signed Free Agent must stay with the team until July of the following season. We are asking that this trade be "okayed" by those mentioned above so that Bagwell can begin in the city and with the team he is most known. Both teams desire to see this as a rare exception to the rules and acknowledge this as a special case. Thank you.

haha I don't think that it is possible for this to happen, it is a good thought, but "special considerations" to rules aren't exactly good for the league lol

Why don't we hold off on anything first. We still need Houston to give his confirmation and we requested league presidents/commish to rule on this... not the peanut-gallary.

well NL doesn't have a League President and HOF player or not, there shouldn't exactly be "exceptions to the rules" cause where does it stop? I mean Pujols is a HOF'er would that mean that I get to keep him at his current salary so he stays in Colorado to end his career? I am just stating that making exceptions to any rule is a slippery slope that should be avoided.

I waited for HOU to post before posting...as an agent I would have to agree with COL on this...while I love the idea of Bags going home for 3000 and then calling it a career..."exceptions" like this will cause nothing but headache's in the future and should be avoided... deal him July 1st

I see a that a lot of other trades got prosessed... could the commish rule on this one so both Houston and myself know where we stand with this trade. Especially since there is a push to get a SP sim soon.

That's how this is feeling so far... How about this... unless we hear nothing of the contrary from the commish, this trade passes. This is getting ridiculous; esp. in light of the fact that the season starts soon and a ST Sim too.

well actually if you hear nothing to the contrary assume it is denied just because it is against the current rules.

actually I wasnt trying to be rude lol
but KC man honestly this trade isnt going anywhere...the best thing that could happen for Bags is a mid-season trade...
you could always propose a rule change...but that wouldnt effect this instance...

you talk to him like that after he pretty much GAVE you his first round pick? thats like kicken a girl outta bed after a blowjob, cruel just cruel you dont look over the draft files so you dont understand...Ortiz himself was a 1st rd player and is a carbon copy of Conroy who was drafted 8th in what many consider the best draft yet...not to mention B.J. Ryan who (by the stats) has been one of the best closer the last 2 yrs... now that should improve KC's pick...probably not to the 8 pick where Conroy went...which is why Ryan was included... hope that cleared it up for you(and so you know I wasnt trying to be rude just explaining) but I have kicked a girl outta bed after a bad blow job...for the record so that was fuckin hilarious

It hurts, but I have submitted my start of the season roster without this trade being resolved.
