how did I inflate the deal though, I posted the numbers off the editor, I posted it exactly what the editor has it. Comparing Young and Jones stat for stat, every vital it has for them, they are identical, other than SLG%, and I gave 4 avg. players, with 2 draft picks to make up for the SLG%. I didn't say anything to inflate the deal, just compared the numbers, something nobody else did cause they knew the deal would match up. I said I knew the trade would piss two GM's off, not that I did it for that reason. I just said that to get people to stop posting until we had a decision. I told that to Mike right after I posted it, so there would be no confusion. I just wanted everyone to stop bitching. My post above showed the comparison of the players, and if it was read you all would realize the deal is fair, and does not deserve a veto, just cause you wouldn't do it. and as for Jones not being a "STUD SS" just a SS with good numbers, then every player is a player with good numbers but not studs at there posiition. Jones #'s are better than Derek Jeter's, if Jeter isn't a stud then I don't get what you are thinking. I mean he is fast, has great plate discipline and good fielding with awesome range, and decent power and good avg. he reaches base almost 300 times. Though he doesn't have a great SLG% but he does reach base 24 more times in 600 AB's than Ichiro does in 664 AB's and Jones has 1 more XB hit in 600 AB's then Ichiro does in 664 AB's , not saying Jones is as good as Ichiro is, cause Ichiro is faster and has better defense with about equal range and a stronger arm, but for bats Jones is better. I just don't see how he is good or mediocre and not great, if Jones SLG% was equal to Young's we wouldn't even be having this discussion if it was Young for Jones straight up, so I add Lewis, Ramos, Nunez and Mondesi and my 1st and 2nd round pick to the trade to make up for the difference in SLG%, I had to make up a difference of 40 XB hits(only 7 actual hits) and added a first and second draft pick and 4 avg. players. I still don't see how this is a ripoff or is unfair, and nobody has posted any reasoning to why it is.

STUDS= www.adminplan.northwestern.edu/ir/NEW/UCSL/awards05all.htmi dont see jeter anywhere on there. you wouldnt trade vlad gurrero for jeter just because he is a ss that is better than the rest of the ss's but nowhere near as good as vladdy and adding guys that are average at best doesnt make jones better like i siad who cares i just want to start the season i just get tired of reading all your bs

ok SD, I don't care what you say, cause from what I have heard lately your just an ass, that is not posting anything that makes the deal look like it should be vetoed. All you have said is that I am inflating the trade when I haven't been, I just posted my reasoning of why I thought it was fair. I posted FACTS about the players, I posted what TB told me was his reasoning. All I did was compare the two main players in the deal, and show that the ONLY difference is that Young gets more Extra Base Hits, other than that they are equal players, I am not denying Young is better, if I was I would have offered Jones for Young, but I didn't this is what he came to me with. I am giving him 4 avg. players and a 1st and second round draft pick to make up for 40 extra base hits, cause thats the only difference between the two players. I still have not heard one good reason why this should be vetoed, other than- Cincy- It is bad for the league, Wash.- Jones is mediocre, and SD- the deal is bad, I wouldn't do it. The only person that posted anything about the players involved and why it shouldn't go through is MIL and me, I posted my post about Young and Jones, and then was just gonna let it go, since you know I am involved in the trade I figured I could say my piece and let it be that, but no, people that are not directly involved in the trade had to post how bad the trade was in their opinion AGAIN. We know you don't like the trade, so just stop, you have not posted anything worthwhile in your posts so stop posting until you can. So far you have said I have posted BS, and inflated the trade, well if telling exactly what the editor says is inflating the trade, then I am sorry for showing you exactly what Jones and Young are supposed to do in 600 AB's and comparing them. I am so sorry I "inflated the deal" by voicing my reasoning, but you guys "deflating the deal" by posting nothing but bullshit that had nothing to do with the players (excluding MIL) is alot better than me actually posting exactly what the two players editor numbers are and comparing them to eachother. SO SORRY

also Jeter wasn't on the voting for awards cause TB was inbetween GM's, but your right a guy that hit .300 with a .400 OBP and a .510+ SLG% with 29 HR's 184 hits and 30 SB's at SS isn't good cause thats what Jeter did last year, and Jones has better editor numbers than Jeter, so your right, I would hate to get a guy that hits 30 HR's with 30 SB's and a .400 OBP at SS, that would just suck considering your starting SS last year hit .270 with a .350 OBP and .390 SLG% hitting 13 HR's and a .957 fielding%, but hey looks like you wanted a big bat at SS to and traded for Nomar. Looks like you like the idea of getting a awesome bat at SS as much as TB did.
Another funny fact- there were a total of- 3 MIF to recieve votes for MVP with an avg amount of votes of 7 and 9 OF'ers with an avg. amount of votes of 33.4 which means OF'ers are easier to get and produce better numbers as a whole, while SS's that put up Jones kind of numbers are hard to come by.

Well there, your reason is against the rules anyway, it says not to veto just cause a person could have gotten more than the current deal veto it if you think the trade is harmful to the league, which this one is not. People value players differently then other people do, you can't run his team for him, the only reason vetoing is here is to prevent harm to the league, which this one doesn't do, the trade isn't bad, and wouldn't set a bar low for other vetos. I am sorry if 4 avg. players and a 1st and 2nd round draft pick doesn't make up for 40 XBH in your opinion, but that doesn't make the trade harmful to the league.

I'm still trying to figure out who these 4 avg. players are . The only other players besides Jones and Young are 2 OF's with low obp's and bad range, and two pitchers who would be real lucky to post an ERA under 5. I never said that Jones is mediocre, I just know the other players involved (besides the 1st rdr) are basically going to have no impact in the ML. And the difference in SLG is not that small. 170 points of SLG is a pretty big gab. Young gets about 1.7 more bases per 10 AB's than Jones.

sorry i havent been on in god knows how long, been busy with work.
this trade is not apporved....i agree with what either the 2nd or 3rd poster said about the breakdown of the players. this trade does not help out tb by givin them marginal players for a stud....for instance delmon young could land him almost any major league player plus somethin else....theres no way what colorado gives up would land him a top MLB player. in order to trade young he needs atleast one proven stud player back.

I was waiting for Shawn to make his post on it before I said anything, but to me it's as simple as this. Look at Arod's vitals, then look at Youngs. YOUNG IS A BETTER HITTER THAN AROD, equal fielder, with better arm. The only thing Arod has on him is speed and a slight range advantage, but Young is better than average in both of those departments. You're right in that SS have a little more value than OF, but it's not by that much, when you're talking about probably the top prospect in the game. I've tried to see it from both angles, but quantity doesn't = quality, especially for a team like TB.
Would you trade a young Arod for this package? No way.
