Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd has informed the media that a serious bidder has emerged with an offer for Alex Rodriguez. The team has made a strong push for Alex within the last 24 hours, and it seems as though A-Rod may be moving withing the next 24-48 hours to a team looking to contend now. The price tag is high, and though some teams haven't seemed to want to meet the price, this team has seemingly pushed the price, higher, and has O'Dowd seriously considering A-Rod. Their have been no details of the trade, and the team making the offer has not been revieled, but this deal is sure to be one of the biggest of the year if not the history of the league. O'DOwd is not releasing any further information due to other teams in the past trying to jump into his trades to foul them up, so any details are being kept very secretive between the two teams. More on this story as it unveils.

Salary implications may be the deciding factor in the falling through of a deal between the Cardinals and the Padres that initially would have sent Manny Ramirez to San Diego for a draft pick and top prospect. Peter Gammons reports "San Diego simply did not have the space under cap to come close to pushing this deal through as wide-eyed as GM Kevin Towers must have been to think about Manny Ramirez patroling left field at Petco." St. Louis inquired about a potenital blockbuster involving Chipper Jones but Towers stated "Chipper is our 3rd baseman and opening up a hole at the corner for another outfielder just isn't the direction we wanted to go." Xavier Nady and Carl Everett currently platoon in center. The acquisition of Ramirez would have moved Brian Giles to right and Preston Wilson to center. The Padres opened the first week of the season 6-0.

Peter Gammons has reported that many teams have been looking to get Hawksworth off of Baltimore within days of him arriving in the city. Baltimore, although still actively looking to trade hot prospect Juan Gutierrez, have stated many times that Hawksworth will be an Oriole for awhile to come.

Tired of hearing Jim Hendry cry about curses during live sims? So are his fans and he hears them. The team has to "head in a different direction and stop blaming goats and making excuses." Hendry put a lot of work into retooling the lineup for 2007 and it has yielded little result. Rumor has it that he is contacting several playoff-race teams with a blockbuster offer involving 2 superstars and a top pitching prospect.

A rumor has surfaced that the Brewers are talking about moving Johan Sanatan and Alex Rodriguez in the up comming days. They are said to be taking final offers due to the fact several teams are interested, and the source said it is just a matter of time. When we spoke to GM Doug Melvin he said "We are a very active team and we will do what it takes to bring a championship to this fine city."

Rumors have it that at one point COL was discussing a trade for Johan Santana, but after hearing the asking price, balked at the Brewers attempts to fleece the Rockies, and are no longer in the Santana sweepstakes. They were never in the running for more than 2 seconds anyway.

Rumors out of Philadelphia had the Phillies sending some very serious offers to the Brewers for Santana and ARod....but only willing to take on one of the players. Another source says John Kruk believes the Brewers GM is smoking crack if he thinks he will get his asking price.

Doug Melvin released this statement after hearing what John Kruk said:
"We have never put out an 'official' asking price on our players. We have had many inquiries about them and have spoke to other teams about the market that is out there and have stated what others may be willing to pay. To say I am smoking crack is like saying Kruk had talent as a player."
Sources say that Melvin is still upset about the 7 game series loss in the playoffs and thinks it is unlikely he would move either of his 2 studs to a competitor within the league. An unnamed Brewers official said an AL team is in the lead with their offers.
Stay tuned!
