Joe Morgan was quoted earlier today saying- "Jose Reyes uses his speed to steal the bases, he is a very fast player, you can't learn speed, and it can't be taught. Because of his speed he will steal alot of bases, as long as he doesn't forget how to run fast, because you can't teach speed. Reyes gets alot of triples because of how fast he is to." hate to admit it but thats a good Morgan, same with Mikes...I could actually hear him fucking saying it...never said the man was articulate said he was the best 2b...

I would love to see people posting in this again. Especially if they did their best Joe Morgan impressions. Morgan isnt bad its the other fucking guy who drives me nuts...Morgan the best 2b ever and I catch all hell living in a Cubbie town but Ryno wasnt it sorry... Ryno wasn't the best ever, that's for sure. But Joe Morgan? I'm pretty sure Rogers Hornsby would have something to say about that. Or Jackie Robinson. Or maybe even Rod Carew. Charlie Gehringer, Nap Lajoie, and Tony Lazzeri could all make good cases for being better too. Not to mention soon to be HOF Alomar, who is probably 3rd behind Hornsby and Robinson, though he could make a case for 2nd.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the Dodgers will place OF Hideki Matsui on the 15 Day DL but it is unclear who they will callup in replace, some say it could be OF Jason Romano who was recently sent down to make room for Matsui in the first place. Dodgers Starter Gil Meche pitched an absolute gem the other night vs. the Diamondbacks and according to reports, it raised his trade value a bit as the trade deadline approaches this thursday. If someone in the Dodgers team is going to get traded, it's going to be Gil Meche according to various sources.

Arizona's Offical Response to the allegations leaked by ESPN that Arizona players might try to start something against LAD players, especially Gil Meche are "completely, and utterly false", everyone in our organization is dedicated to winning this year, and a player on a last place team will not deter us from our goal...
P.S. If meche comes up to bat against us again, we are going to send a couple of heaters his way, if you know what i am saying

Reports out of the Dodgers Front Office are that Top Pitching Prospects Adriano Rosario and Ubaldo Jimenez are really close in being called up to the major league clubs said an ''insider'' on Sunday Night. "New General Manager Paul DePodesta is excited to have these two live arms almost ready to get into the show but it's going to be depend if they can deal Gil Meche and possibly even Joel Hanrahan before the trade deadline. " said a Dodger Insider to the LA Associated Press.

A source inside the Mets camp told ESPN today that the Mets "are still actively pursuing some leads on hitters," but "are not looking to add any ML-level pitching. Period." The source added that if any deals are made, they will be either small upgrades over the starters at SS or C or bench players who can hit for high averages and get on base while being able to play multiple positions.

Joe Morgan was earlier quoted on this statement about the rumored Steve Bailey trade.
"Steve Bailey hits the ball harder than anyone in the league has this year. The pitchers have tried everything, throwing soft, hard, but Steve still hits it hard. You can tell he hits the ball hardest because he has the most home runs. Now, I don't know why anybody would ever want to get rid of him for players that I've never heard of. I don't watch much minor league baseball because I think the better players are in the majors. If these guys that Houston got were good, I'd have heard of them and they'd be in the majors. Now, what is Baltimore going to do about their other best hitter, Luis-Antonio Jimenez? He hits the ball hard too."

According to ESPN's Peter Gammons, Arizona is not done in the last minute trade market...there is a rumor floating around about a deal between the Chicago White Sox and Arizona, revolving around major league players Juan Uribe(CWS) and Mike Maroth(ARI).
Reportedly, the White Sox are looking to help out there pitching staff, which has been looking a little rough so far this year..and Arizona is looking for a player that can play ss, so A-Rod can move back to 3b, after reports that A-Rod has been rumored to his displeasure with being moved back to his old defensive spot...GM Carlton Fisk, after recently aquiring the young L.A. Jimenez for Paul Konerko, said, "we need a more stable player at ss, then some of our younger talents have been so far, at this moment in the season...if we get uribe to solidify our position players, we would only be looking to add one more top of the rotation sp in the off-season...maybe someone like matsusaka, or possibly a guy like jared weaver..."

"According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Angels may be on the verge of two blockbuster deals that will change the shape of their team, and of the entire American League. Citing the performance of Ryan Harvey and Felix Pie for the AAA Salt Lake Bees, Olney says that some major pieces of the Angels team (and outfield, specifically) may be moved to open up roster spots for them, or other parts. Details about the other potential deal are not known at the moment, but it is rumored that the deals are somewhat dependent on each other. More details will become available as they come in."

There is a rumor floating around that the Brewers are unhappy with their run in the playoffs and are searching to add some ML talent. We have heard several big names pop up involving the team. Someone within the organization said the trade could be announced within a few days.
Joe Morgan said:
"I don't know why they'd make a trade. The Brewers have a good foundation with Johan Santana. He throws the ball really hard. When a pitcher throws the ball really hard, it comes at the hitter really fast. It is hard to hit a ball coming at you really fast because it doesn't take long to get to you. To hit a ball that is coming at you really fast, you need to swing fast. Alot of players at this level swing really fast, but they still need to hit the ball. And against Johan, it is really hard to do that. I'm glad I didn't have to face him."
With that said, stay tuned.

World Series Champion Colorado Rockies have been said to be looking for a trade. Nobody knows why they would consider making a move after winning the World Series. They are said to be offering Manny Ramirez, Mark Teixeira and Anthony Gwynn, 3 starters in their ML line-up last season, in a deal for Miguel Cabrera. That trade was turned down and Gaylord Focker and Joey Gathright's names were being thrown around instead of Gwynn, which the Marlins also shot down. The Rockies are always looking to upgrade, but trading 3 starters for 1 prob. wouldn't help the team very much. When a player has 154 K's and only 78 BB's with bad defense, it prob. isn't wise to bring him in for 3 key pieces to the WS run. Either way Colorado is still looking to wheel and deal and more news is said to be coming.
