There is a rumor floating around that the Brewers are unhappy with their run in the playoffs and are searching to add some ML talent. We have heard several big names pop up involving the team. Someone within the organization said the trade could be announced within a few days. Joe Morgan said: "I don't know why they'd make a trade. The Brewers have a good foundation with Johan Santana. He throws the ball really hard. When a pitcher throws the ball really hard, it comes at the hitter really fast. It is hard to hit a ball coming at you really fast because it doesn't take long to get to you. To hit a ball that is coming at you really fast, you need to swing fast. Alot of players at this level swing really fast, but they still need to hit the ball. And against Johan, it is really hard to do that. I'm glad I didn't have to face him." With that said, stay tuned. man I laughed so fucking hard when I read this...nice one BGJ

Word from Cinci is that GM Jose Canseco rejected a trade proposal today that could have brought potential MVP Carlos Beltran with his salary covered for uber spec Jimi Hendrix.
The team is reported as stating that Hendrix remains the focal point of the teams rebuild, and again states the teams plan to have a contender in place when Hendrix hits his prime to lead the city of Cincinnati back to WS glory!

ESPN's Buster Olney is reporting that Oakland Athletics' GM Billy Beane is still actively trying to acquire a high first round pick for the upcoming draft. The belief is that this pick would be sent to Colorado in an attempt to bring back Anthony Gwynn Jr. It is currently unclear whether or not Colorado and Oakland will be able to work out a trade that would send the 24 year old back to his birthplace of California.

Rangers GM Phillip J. Fry was spotted with Home Run Derby winner Tom Fox outside a Las Vegas strip club on Saturday night. When asked for comment Fox blurted something out about "making it rain" and being kicked out of the night club. Fry, always the astute businessman, did offer one tidbit while hauling away 3 or 4 suitcases full of cash. "We will be shopping the #1 overall pick to see what kind of options are out there". And while Fry did not confirm the pick to definitely be moving, he has said there have been a lot of interest buzzing around soon to be superstar Steve Parsons. "He's a truly amazing bat," Fry quipped. "He can be moved but we want to get what we think he's worth. Stay tuned for more info.

It turns out that the rumors of the death of Cal Ripken ended up being a marketing scheme. The rumors were supposed to be symbolism of the fact that the Orioles have turned over a new leaf and have now started to turn their team into a young contender. Yesterday marked the very first day that Cal Ripken Jr. has traded for a player over the age of 30 in his 3 years as GM. Former Baltimore leadoff man and phenom Xavier Arroyo was traded along with Paul Howe, the starting 2B, and a few other players to Milwaukee in exchange for ace A.J. Burnett.
Though he's highly disagreed with by the media, Ripken stated that he thinks that Burnett is the missing piece in a 2010 Baltimore playoff run. He feels that the Orioles have a legitimate shot of winning 90+ games this year, should he get the other players that he needs to fill out the roster.

Reds report that with 20 mil to improve then team this season, and with the very weak FA class, they will go hard after closer Todd Pennington. Many thought the Reds would not bid on Pennington after acquiring Closer B.J. Ryan from the Marlins, but GM Jose Canseco was quoted on the subject as saying "Big leads are meaningless if you don't have the talented arms in the bullpen to hold the lead."

Bagwell back to the Astros for #3000?

Bagwell will have to have 139 hits next year to reach 3,000. If Bagwell starts he has a decent chance at 40 years old, but odds are Bagwell will not make it to 3,000. If the team with the 2nd worst record in baseball had him on the bench, why would anyone start him? Well the answer is, in the 168 AB's Bagwell recieved, he had a .357 BA, .440 OBP and .673 SLGT%.
